We are extremely proud to have been awarded a Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) for our teaching and provision of science. 

The votes are in. Our children have chosen the names for our three adorable hens. Please meet Mabel, Hettie and Rosie. Such beautiful names! Our children had lots of fun coming up with name ideas which were put to a vote in this morning’s assembly! The girls are now laying eggs each day which are being used by our Reception children in their baking and also by our kitchen. 

Work on our wildlife pond started last week and our children are already loving it. They are so fascinated and asking lots of questions, talking about all the wildlife it will support and attract. Our wildlife pond will be planted with native species and include a pond dipping platform. It will be such a fantastic learning resource for current and future children. Thanks to Surrey County Council and Oxted Parish Council for their help in funding this exciting project. The pond is being created by Hazelwood Landscapes who create wildlife-friendly ponds, gardens and habitats.  

Year 1 had a brilliant morning when they took the train to Wimbledon's Polka Theatre to watch the show Let's Build! 

A hilarious and interactive show, Let’s Build! embraces the magic of discovering things for the first time, where mistakes are a door to something new.

There was lots of laughter and smiles and the children were even treated to building their own creations at the end of the show!

We’ve received funding to create a brand new school wildlife pond. Not only will our pond benefit the local environment, but nature provides countless opportunities for children to discover, create and problem solve, as well as STEM education. Having a school wildlife pond really is a win-win!

Thanks to Oxted Parish Council and Surrey County Council for supporting our project - we couldn't do it without you!

Work is due to start in May, so we'll keep you updated with the progress and look forward to showing you our new pond

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children had a brilliant time taking part in some fun and creative football training drills, accompanied by some very catchy music!

Who's that....It's Burglar Bill

The children had lots of fun earlier this week watching The Pied Piper Theatre Company’s production of Burglar Bill, inspired by the classic picture book by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.

There was lots of laughter coming from the hall as the children got to know Burglar Bill and Burglar Betty and all their antics through a brilliant set design, puppets and original songs.

Our nursery is staffed by a fully qualified teacher and supported by a highly experienced team. The nursery children are integrated into school life here at Hurst Green and have recently started their own Forest School sessions which take place in our school grounds. Reception class have been very excited this week as they have been practising for their harvest festival. As well as learning new songs, they've also been making clay and pinecone hoglets and hedgehog bread!

Our Reception children have been reading The Little Red Hen and discussing the story in class. They were very excited this morning when they found out The Little Red Hen had left them a surprise...

Bastet Dancing will be coming into school this term to run an after school club every Tuesday. We cannot wait!

Big thanks to Perform for visiting our school this morning and treating our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children to a Drama4ALL workshop. They all had a brilliant time discovering their inner actors and there was lots of laughter and happy noises coming from the hall!
